Over the years I have taken tons of classes in an effort to “keep my edge.” And in doing all of that; one of the biggest complaints I’ve had, and maybe you have to, is to invest my time and my money and go to a class that is nothing more than a sales pitch. Another big one for me is when you take time out from the field only to go to a class that is so boring and stale that even with 10 hours of sleep, you can’t keep awake for 10 minutes. No amount of strong coffee seems to be able to help with those classes.

As a teacher that is still a student at heart, I hate a boring class just as much as the next guy. I understand that some of these topics are not barn burners. But that doesn’t mean you and I can’t have a meaningful conversation on the topic that brings out how that topic affects our work day. I have been told that I have a gift for teaching. I have even had a returning student interrupt another student who was whining at the beginning of a class. That other student was whining about having to take a class, so far from home, just to keep his license so he could continue working. The returning student interrupted him and bold faced told him and the rest of the class that he’d rather listen to me for eight hours than the teacher that was much closer to their home city for only two hours. Receiving compliments like that from students is why I work so hard at what I do.

Just like working in the field, I still enjoy learning new things, even from students, because I am still a student and a learner at heart. And because I am no longer affiliated with any wholesale distributor, I can offer classes that are completely independent of any supply company, or any manufacturer, or any government agency. Because of this, I am now the only independent continuing education provider that provides live, multi-state approved, multi-trade approved, continuing education to all three specialty trades across the upper Midwest. We did this so there would be no chance of a class turning into a sales pitch or some government agency or inspector’s wish list.
